My dad was the 1st computer geek. We had a Tandy, used the BBS, transitioned from DOS to Windows, played Wolfenstein. So, of course, he got a modem connection as soon as he could, and my love affair with html began. The instant gratification of coding has captured my imagination for over 15 years. After high school, I moved on to AutoCAD and Photoshop, visions of graphic design in my head.
Alas, I ended up learning asp in a boyfriend's basement, thanks to his endless patience and assistance... and maybe just the tiniest amount of hard liquor. My first job was as an admin assistant at a small interior architecture firm in Chicago; I spent every minute learning VBA (visual basic for applications--e.g. macros) so I could automate their Word templates to auto-populate with info from their Access database. Since then I've probably forgotten more than I remember: perl, asp, Director (remember that?), Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, php, on and on.
Now the object-oriented programming (OOP) bug has finally bitten me. Can an old, stubborn, and crusty dog learn new tricks? Stay tuned...
